IPPTN USM COURTESY VISIT TO YB DATO' RAMLI DATO' MOHD NOR, DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (DEWAN RAKYAT), PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA

On 7th June 2023, Ts. Dr. Rohayati Mohd Isa, Director of IPPTN USM (also the Chairperson of the Organising Committee for GHEF2023), together with Mr. Hussin Mahmud, Director of the IPTA Governance Division (BGA), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, paid a courtesy visit to YB Dato' Ramli Dato' Mohd Nor, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat), Parliament of Malaysia.

 

YB Dato' Ramli Dato' Mohd Nor is one of the keynote speakers for the upcoming 8th Global Higher Education Forum 2023 (GHEF2023): Equity Recovery - Higher Education in the Post-Pandemic Era, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

 

The representatives of the organisers had the honour of visiting YB Dato' Ramli and providing him with detailed insights into the forum and its objectives. This visit presented an excellent opportunity to discuss the significant role he will play in GHEF2023. YB Dato' Ramli is the first indigenous people (Orang Asli) candidate to be elected to the Dewan Rakyat as a Member of Parliament. Therefore, his engagement in GHEF2023 to represent the voice of indigenous groups would enhance the diversity, richness, and inclusivity of perspectives in addressing higher education equity in the post-pandemic era.

 

Mr. Ahmad Muzaffar Ahmad Bakri, Assistant Chief Director of the Governance Section, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Mr. Muhammad Haziq Mohd Rohir, Senior Private Secretary of YB Deputy Speaker, Mr. Henry A/L M. Savarimuthu, Private Secretary of YB Deputy Speaker, Ms. Nurul Shafiza Sazali, Special Duties Officer of YB Deputy Speaker, and Mr. Ahmad Firdaus Ahmad Shabudin, Senior Assistant Registrar of IPPTN USM also attended the meeting.
