IPPTN on the Global Stage: Advancing Higher Education Governance through Psychosocial Safety Climate
The National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN) proudly highlights a major international achievement as Ts. Dr. Teoh Kok Ban, Senior Lecturer and Researcher at IPPTN, Universiti Sains Malaysia, was invited to serve as a Keynote Speaker at the 4th International Symposium on Sustainable Development of Education in China and the World (2025).
Ts. Dr. Teoh Kok Ban is a specialist in higher education studies, with a strong research focus on Psychosocial Safety Climate (PSC) as a critical framework for governance, leadership, and institutional sustainability in higher education. His keynote contribution highlighted how PSC can be strategically embedded within university governance structures to enhance leadership effectiveness, staff wellbeing, organisational trust, and long-term institutional performance.
Being selected as one of only 12 keynote speakers reflects international recognition of IPPTN’s scholarly expertise and leadership in advancing evidence-based approaches to higher education governance and management. This milestone also marks a significant first, with IPPTN delivering a physical keynote address in China, further strengthening the institute’s global academic standing and influence.
The symposium provided a high-level platform for rigorous academic exchange, cross-cultural dialogue, and the sharing of innovative ideas with international scholars and policymakers. The engagements and networks established during the event have opened promising pathways for future international research collaboration and policy-relevant work.
IPPTN extends its sincere appreciation to the organising committee for their professional coordination and warm hospitality throughout the symposium. This achievement underscores IPPTN’s continued commitment to shaping forward-looking higher education systems through research-driven governance, leadership, and wellbeing frameworks.
